When you hand someone your financial records, you're trusting them with one of the most important parts of your business. That's a responsibility I don't take lightly.
For more than eight years, I worked in banking and financial services, where accuracy wasn't optional. Every transaction mattered, every account had to balance, and even small mistakes could create bigger problems down the road. That experience taught me the value of careful work, attention to detail, and doing things right the first time.
That's what led me to start Karl's Bookkeeping.
I genuinely enjoy bringing order to financial records that feel overwhelming. Whether you're behind on your bookkeeping, spending evenings trying to figure out QuickBooks, or simply ready to hand it off to someone you can trust, my goal is to make the process simple and stress-free.
I'm a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and I'm always continuing my training to stay sharp on the platform. I also serve as treasurer for my church, advising on budgeting and financial decisions — a role built on the same trust and attention to detail I bring to every client.

Do I need a bookkeeper if I already use QuickBooks Online?
QuickBooks Online is a great tool, but it doesn't keep your books on its own. Bank feeds guess at categories, transactions get duplicated or missed, and accounts drift out of balance when nobody reconciles them. A bookkeeper makes sure what's in QuickBooks actually matches your bank statements, so your reports — and your tax return — are built on accurate numbers.
What does monthly bookkeeping include?
Every month I categorize all of your transactions in QuickBooks Online, reconcile every bank and credit card account to its statement, and deliver clean financial reports — including a profit and loss statement and balance sheet — on a predictable schedule. It's one flat monthly rate, with direct access to me for questions.
How much does a bookkeeper cost in Indiana?
At Karl's Bookkeeping, monthly bookkeeping starts at $200/month on a flat rate — no hourly billing. Your exact rate depends on how many transactions you have each month, how many bank and credit card accounts need reconciling, and how far behind the books are when we start. Can you clean up my existing QuickBooks account?
Yes. Whether you're a few months or a few years behind, I'll fix miscategorized transactions, reconcile your accounts, and bring your QuickBooks Online file current. Cleanup and catch-up work is quoted as a one-time project after a free assessment of where your books stand.
Do you work with churches and nonprofits?
Yes — churches, ministries, and nonprofits are a core part of my work. I serve as treasurer for my own church, so I understand budgets, giving, board reporting, and the accountability that comes with managing donated funds.
Can you track restricted and designated church funds?
Yes. I track designated and restricted funds separately so every gift is used the way the donor intended, and I prepare board-ready reports that clearly show each fund's balance.
Can I keep my own books and have you review them?
Yes. If you'd rather do your own bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, I offer review-only work: I'll check your categorization and reconciliations, point out anything that needs fixing, and make sure your books are accurate before they go to your tax preparer.
Do you prepare taxes?
No. Karl's Bookkeeping provides bookkeeping services only — I'm not a CPA firm and don't prepare tax returns. What I do is hand your CPA or tax preparer clean, reconciled books, so tax season goes faster and smoother.
Can you work with my CPA or tax preparer?
Yes. I'm happy to work alongside your CPA or tax preparer — sending reports, answering their questions, and making sure your books are ready when they need them.
What accounting software do you use?
I work in QuickBooks Online. I don't work in QuickBooks Desktop or Xero — anything outside QuickBooks Online is by special arrangement only.
Do you only work with clients in Muncie?
No. I'm based in Muncie and serve East Central Indiana — including Yorktown, Anderson, New Castle, Winchester, Hartford City, Portland, and Marion — and because everything runs in QuickBooks Online, I work with clients remotely anywhere in the United States.
